Major: Economics and Mathematics
Regents' and Chancellor’s Scholar

I grew up in Shenzhen, China, and moved to Vancouver, Canada as a teenager. I have studied in three countries at six different schools. My modus operandi has always been "getting that sheet of paper and rushing to the next place". It was working pretty well - until I came to UC Berkeley.
During my transient three years here, Berkeley has made me feel at home for the first time since I left my hometown. Berkeley understands my needs and allows me to freely explore my interests. In fact, I did not become an official mathematics and economics double major until the end of my junior year. For me, home is the place where my passions and decisions are respected, and Berkeley is home because it offers a world of opportunities and encourages my pursuits. Thus I would like express my most sincere gratitude to the generous donors. Without you, this new home would not have been possible. Thank you!

Major: Business Administration
Regents' and Chancellor’s Scholar

As an international student born in Guangzhou, China, I found that finding sufficient funds to support my undergraduate education at UC Berkeley was almost as daunting of a task as applying to the school itself. The Berkeley Club of Hong Kong Undergraduate Scholarship made this possible and I am infinitely grateful. I am currently a freshman studying Pre-Business Administration, but what I love about Cal is that my intended major does not limit me from taking all different types of courses. Beyond the walls of the classroom, I am also involved in pro bono consulting for the social sector and would love to do more in community service. Your generous donation has not only made an impact on my life, but it will also make an impact on the lives of others in all of my future endeavors. Thank you!
