International Relations

The International Relations Office (IR) helps build a visible and recognizable global presence for the University of California, Berkeley. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor, IR focuses on international strategic planning and development for the entire campus with a particular focus on leadership and major gifts from the Asia-Pacific region. (The university is registered as a non-profit entity and has tax exempt status in Canada and England,as well as the United States.)

IR coordinates and briefs the Chancellor for all international travel engagements. This includes arranging meetings with major gift donors, prospects, and senior government officials; coordinating alumni events in host cities; and arranging interviews with the media.

The Office also coordinates and manages the university’s international alumni clubs (Berkeley Clubs). Through social, cultural and intellectual events, Berkeley Clubs provide members an opportunity for ongoing identification with the University. There are currently over 25 international clubs located around the globe. We welcome you to join your local Berkeley Club to reconnect with the campus and your fellow alums!
