Jingyan WANG '15
Major: EECS

I was born and raised in Beijing, China, and I am currently a fourth-year undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences. During my studies at Berkeley, I have been fortunate to be involved in various research projects and have been an active member of Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Berkeley Scientific Journal (BSJ).

"It is my honor to have been selected as a recipient of the Berkeley Club of Hong Kong Undergraduate Scholarship, and I am very appreciative of the donors who have made this scholarship possible. It is a great recognition for my past work and an encouragement for my future academic pursuits. Thank you!"

Dongping Zhang '16
Major: Economics and Statistics
Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholar

I am currently a junior pursuing a dual degree in Economics and Statistics. I grew up in Shanghai and came to the United States when I was 16. Berkeley was the very first university campus I visited. The vibrant cultural environment and engaging academic atmosphere caught my heart instantly. Thankfully and fatefully, I can now proudly tell others that UC Berkeley is my alma mater.

A music lover and an experienced string musician, I have been teaching Erhu, the Chinese violin, in the music department for the past 5 semesters. Since freshman year, I have taught more than 100 students and it is exhilarating that my Chinese background can make this campus an even more diverse and friendly community. My motivations came in part from you generous donors, who have greatly alleviated my financial burden and allow me to confidently dedicate all my energies and passion into the many possibilities offered by Berkeley, and for that I am truly grateful.

"Thank you very much for The Berkeley Club of Hong Kong Undergraduate Scholarship. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated. Go Bears!"
