The executive committee of the club comprises volunteer alumni from a variety of professional fields, all dedicated to the sustainable, long-term development of the Berkeley Club of Canada.

Umar Akram (B.A. Political Economy '17)

Umar graduated from UC Berkeley in 2017. During his time at Berkeley, he co-founded a start-up that is working to eradicate child mortality in the developing world. After graduation, Umar relocated to Toronto and began working in the asset management industry. In line with his passions, he is currently working in the green finance space as a product manager. He has a variety of interests and is a foodie, avid reader and traveller. Umar loves connecting with people and is excited to drive the Berkeley Club of Canada to new heights.

Diana Chao (B.A. Molecular Cell Biology '16)

After graduating from Berkeley in 2016 with a B.A. in Molecular Cell Biology, Diana returned to Vancouver where she is now working in the healthcare industry. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, reading, and exploring the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. Diana hopes to connect and bring Cal alumni in Canada together, and looks forward to meeting new Cal bears.

Mustapha Khokhar (B.A. Applied Math '16)

Mustapha was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, a small town of just 11 million people, and in his teen years traveled around between Pakistan and Toronto, with a few intermittent stops in Dubai in between. Mustapha went on to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley in 2016 with a Double Major in Applied Mathematics & Economics, and recently became a CFA charter holder. Currently an employee of S&P Global where he works as a Quantitative Analyst servicing Investment Managers and other Financial Institutions, Mustapha is passionate about data  driven processes and their application in the field of financial services.  When not busy assisting his clients with their quantitative workflows, Mustapha can be found catching up on the latest sports news for his teams (Manchester United, LA Lakers, and Buccaneers), trying to kick-start his side gig as an aspiring DJ, or working on his cooking skills so he doesn’t continue to poison any more of his friends.

Yuyao Lian (B.S. Mechanical Engineering '16)

Yuyao graduated in 2016 from Berkeley and studied Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Canada after graduation and is currently working as a software developer based in Kitchener, Ontario. Yuyao is looking forward to driving engagement, creating mentorship opportunities and networking. Yuyao is glad to answer any questions you may have and is honored to be able to give back to the Cal community.

Dylan Mendonca (B.S. Mechanical Engineering '17)

Dylan grew up in Dubai, where he developed a huge passion for adventure. His interests have led me to live in and explore many cities around the world, before settling down in Toronto. Currently, he works in software at a biotech company called Phenomic AI. Outside of work, you can find him lying down in a park listening to the Beatles or convincing someone that bitcoin is the future of money. 

Rohit Verma (B.A. Political Science '18)

Rohit was born in Toronto, but lived and grew up in the East Bay. He graduated from Berkeley in 2018 with a degree in Political Science and Government. Before moving to Toronto in 2019, he worked as a political advertising strategist in San Francisco supporting political organizations and campaigns across the country. In Toronto, he works as a public affairs and communications consultant. Rohit is excited to be a part of the Berkeley Club of Canada and bring together alumni across the country.

Reo Yamanaka (B.A. Public Health '19)

Reo grew up in Tokyo and Toronto and finished high school in the UK before attending Berkeley. He was initially pr e-med but changed his focus to software engineering partway through his undergrad. He currently works as a software engineer in Canada and is looking to start his own SaaS company.

Zun Zhang (B.A. Public Health '17)

Zun majored in public health and attended UC Berkeley from 2013-2017. Things Zun did during his time at Cal include: competing with the Cal Men's Ultimate Frisbee team, conducting infectious diseases research with the Riley Lab, volunteering at UCSF Medical Center, and joining the Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity. Zun is from Vancouver, BC and currently works in business consulting. 

Christal Zhong (B.A. Economics & Statistics '17)

Christal graduated from Berkeley in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Statistics. She works at Sun Life Financial in the field of investment research, specifically on mutual funds and is currently based in Toronto. Christal enjoys making music and playing guitar during her free time.
