Join us for an engaging conversation with Abigail Hing Wen and Jay Lin ‘95 about Culture, Film and Tech. Enjoy an evening of wine and appetizers while hearing more about how the entertainment landscape is changing. With the rise of streaming platforms, how does media content and other properties expand outside of Asia & Taiwan? How can Taiwan play a larger role in this change from a tech and culture perspective especially during COVID-19?
Abigail Hing Wen, New York Times best selling author, will discuss her debut novel “Loveboat, Taipei” and film projects, as well as her larger vision for bringing together her creative work and leadership work in artificial intelligence in Silicon Valley to make a global cultural impact. Abigail is the new host of the artificial intelligence podcast, Intel on AI, for Intel Corporation. She was previously Sir Dir and Head of Emerging AI Tech, Office of the CTO, Intel’s Artificial Intelligence Products Group.
Jay Lin ’95, CEO of Portico Media, a channel distributor for NBCU, Comcast, Blue Ant and A&E and production hub is a prominent figure in Taiwan’s LGBTQ+ movement and the co-founder of the Taiwan International Queer Film Festival. He launched GagaOOLala, Asia’s first LGBTQ+ streaming worldwide service with more than 20 original features, shorts and series, the Thai-Taiwan co-production “Present Still Perfect”, Zero Chou’s series “Handsome Stewardess” and the same-sex marriage documentary “Taiwan Equals Love”.
