Join us for a private guided art tour The Trio - Lyrical Abstraction Pioneers by Cal parent Catherine Kwai, Founder and Managing Director of Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery.

This exhibition invites viewers to revisit the works of three pioneers of the lyrical abstraction art movement in Paris since the 1940s, namely Gérard Schneider (1896-1986), Pierre Soulages (1919-) and Georges Mathieu (1921-2012). The three artists had continuously participated in many group exhibitions, salons and debates, making them popular and renowned as leading post-war abstract artists in the East and West, especially in New York and Japan. They lit the flame of Japanese avant-garde art in the 1950s, have remained influential throughout the lyrical abstraction art movement, and even lasted up to contemporary art.
