Join fellow alumni and friends for a special virtual event "Economics from the Ivory Tower to the Real World" with renowned Economics Professor Danny Yagan, who recently returned to Berkeley after serving as Chief Economist in the White House. Professor Yagan will share some insights from his time in Washington DC, followed by Q&A. The event will be hosted and moderated by Stephen Luk Ph.D. '01.

Professor Yagan advised President Biden with a White House analysis of low billionaire tax rates, which supported the proposal to set a minimum tax rate on the wealthiest individuals, using a capital gains prepayment idea he had explored with Berkeley colleagues in earlier academic work. On the climate crisis, Professor Yagan co-led the analysis in the President’s Budget that quantified trillion-dollar risks from climate change to the federal budget deficit, helping to make the case for climate proposals that later became law in the Inflation Reduction Act.

Professor Yagan is a perfect example of Berkeley Economics faculty and alumni using their acquired knowledge in ways that directly impact people’s lives in wider society. We invite you to register and submit advance questions for Professor Yagan. Feel free to invite your Cal friends and colleagues. Any questions? //berkeleyclubhk@gmail.com">Email us.
